Lindsey Scott-Walker, the owner of Feather Robins Gifts, is marking the first anniversary of her store at Weston Favell Shopping Centre, just a few months after closing her first shop in St Crispin Retail Village.
Lindsey founded Feather Robins Gifts in September 2022 with the aim of creating a one-stop shop for all gifting needs. Although she originally planned to launch an online store in April 2022, she fell in love with the Kent Road premises at St Crispin Retail Village and decided to open a physical store instead.
After a successful start, Lindsey opened a second store at Weston Favell Shopping Centre in May 2024. However, due to rising costs and a decline in foot traffic, she made the difficult decision to close her St Crispin store at the end of March.
Reflecting on the decision, Lindsey expressed no regrets. “The first year has been really good and has absolutely flown by,” she told the Chronicle & Echo. “It feels like we’ve always been here. It’s an achievement, especially after having to close the Duston shop.”
Over the past year, Lindsey has built a loyal customer base and is proud to have filled a gap in the local market. “People now know where we are and make the journey especially for us,” she said. “We keep our stock minimal and constantly refresh our offerings. If people are looking for something special, they know they’ll find it with us.”
Although the closure of the Duston store remains a sad moment, Lindsey is pleased that her loyal customers have followed her to Weston Favell Shopping Centre.
To celebrate the store’s anniversary, Lindsey partnered with local design business Detype to launch a new website, which allows customers to make online purchases with options for postal delivery or click-and-collect.
Looking ahead, Lindsey remains optimistic. She is actively seeking a location for a potential third store, aiming for a place that aligns with her business’s values and fits well within a retail and hospitality hub.
