Father’s Day is a time for families to come together and show appreciation for the dads in their lives, often with gifts like BBQ grills, golf clubs, or power tools. However, this year, many traditional gifts come with a higher price tag due to newly imposed tariffs.
The U.S. government introduced these tariffs as part of its broader economic strategy. So far, the tariffs are expected to cost the average American household about \$4,000.
Retailers across the country are preparing for Father’s Day by stocking up on popular gifts, with many stores offering BBQ grills and other items that dads typically love. According to a recent survey conducted by Occam for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, more than 84% of respondents consider a BBQ or grill a great Father’s Day gift. Around 60% of people are also planning to either grill or think about grilling to celebrate the day.
But with tariffs now affecting these products, the cost of grills and other items has risen. At a time when prices are already high, many shoppers are feeling the strain. Over 60% of those who plan to grill for Father’s Day said they would rather settle the debate about whether a hot dog is a sandwich than deal with the increased cost of tariffs.
