NORTH JUDSON — Final preparations are underway for this year’s North Judson Mint Festival, scheduled for June 13–15.
During a recent meeting, the North Judson Town Council announced that all vendor spots have been filled. Organizers expect a fun-filled weekend with a variety of events. A printed schedule—on green paper—listing festival activities, features, and sponsors is now available at several businesses throughout Starke County.
North Judson-Wayne Township Fire Chief Todd Jackson also reminded residents that the department’s annual fish fry will take place on Friday, June 7, beginning at 4:30 p.m. CT and continuing until food is sold out.
In other business, a local resident asked the council about placing flowers near the stair steps at Norwayne Field, located across from the church. Council members agreed to help fund the project if volunteers are available to care for the plants. Anyone interested in volunteering can contact the North Judson Town Hall at 574-896-3340.
Also during the meeting, Town Marshal Frank Thomas shared the department’s recent activity. In the past 30 days, officers responded to 569 service calls. These included routine business checks and extra patrols to ensure community safety.
North Judson officers assisted the Starke County Sheriff’s Office with 18 calls and worked with Starke County EMS on 14 occasions. They also responded to seven accidents and assisted with five calls outside the county. Additional calls included four title checks, four vehicle lockouts, one overdose, and a range of other incidents such as suspicious activity, animal complaints, juvenile issues, traffic hazards, warrant services, and harassment. Officers also conducted regular foot patrols.
