Arsenal’s leadership continues to support manager Mikel Arteta and new sporting director Andrea Berta as they focus on building a squad capable of competing on all fronts next season.
Despite speculation linking Real Madrid to the transfer of Martin Zubimendi, The Athletic’s David Ornstein confirmed on Tuesday that Arsenal have completed a deal to sign the Real Sociedad midfielder. Arsenal are now turning their attention to strengthening their attacking options, with a deal for RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko reportedly progressing well.
Arteta emphasized the need for a larger squad to compete effectively next season, stating, “We are going to do everything we can to improve it.”
In May, Arteta acknowledged the challenges his team faces, particularly with injuries and players returning from long-term surgeries. He said, “We need more depth. With the numbers we started with and the demands we’ll face next season, it’s unrealistic to deliver trophies without improvements. We are aware of this and will address it.”
Arteta also highlighted that Arsenal will lose several players due to expiring contracts and loan returns, making it crucial to strengthen the squad for the upcoming season.
