A Georgia woman has won \$2 million from a scratch-off lottery ticket bought by her father. Vanesa Menijvar Acosta claimed her prize on June 3, 2025, in Dorchester, Massachusetts.
After taxes, Acosta received \$1.3 million in a lump sum from the “Billion Dollar Extravaganza” game. The winning \$50 ticket was purchased by her father at East Boston Corner Market, located at 233 London Street in East Boston. The store will receive a \$20,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
Although Acosta did not win the game’s top prize of \$25 million, the \$2 million prize still made her a millionaire. She told lottery officials that she plans to use the money to buy a house and attend college.
Winners of the game can choose to receive annual payments or take the cash immediately. Regardless of the option, state and federal taxes reduce the total amount received.
