Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced an additional Rs 250 “shagun” gift for women benefiting from the Ladli Behna Yojana to celebrate Raksha Bandhan. This amount will be added to the existing monthly stipend of Rs 1,250 under the scheme. The announcement was made during a public event in Belkheda village, about 40 km from Jabalpur’s center. CM Yadav emphasized the state’s ongoing efforts to support women financially and empower them.
In a major move, the Chief Minister also transferred Rs 1,551.44 crore directly into the bank accounts of 1.27 crore women. This marked the 25th installment of payments since the Ladli Behna Yojana began. Officials noted that the scheme is a key part of the state’s plan to provide women with financial aid and encourage economic independence. These efforts highlight the government’s commitment to improving women’s lives and helping them access vital resources.
Besides the financial support, CM Yadav announced several development projects for Belkheda. These include a new government college and new offices and housing for revenue staff. He also inaugurated or laid foundation stones for other development projects in the district. These moves reflect a broader plan to improve infrastructure and education in the area. By focusing on these areas, the government aims to create a more prosperous and self-reliant community.
