Father’s Day weekend brought moments of joy, reflection, and celebration for locals Michelle and Taminique, who shared how they marked the occasion with family, friends, and their church communities.
Taminique began her weekend by joining a Zoom session for her church’s book club, where members are currently reading Stranger God: Meeting Jesus in Disguise by Richard Beck. Later that evening, she relaxed by watching Straw, a new drama by filmmaker Tyler Perry. On Saturday, she met her friend Athena for a meal at Crave Kitchen & Cocktails. Her weekend ended on a cheerful note as her church hosted a “Dad Joke Duel” on Sunday to honor Father’s Day with humor and community spirit.
Michelle’s celebration started earlier in the week. She cheered on her nephew during his All-Star baseball game and gifted him a “GOAT” trophy—complete with a goat figure on top—to recognize his efforts. Later, she spent quality time playing Andersonopology, a family-themed board game, with her nephews and Gracie. On Father’s Day, she presented her dad with a train-themed booklet, a gift that was well-received by both him and Maddon.
Both women found meaningful ways to celebrate the father figures in their lives, blending fun, family, and faith throughout the weekend.
