Ahmet Ismaili, governor of the Central Bank of Kosovo, became widely known last year after a video showed him dancing in sync with the acting head of government, Albin Kurti, while watching a Kosovo national football team match.
The Insider newspaper obtained the gift register for Ismaili for 2024, which details the gifts he has declared receiving from financial institutions, microfinance companies, insurance firms, and foreign diplomatic offices in Kosovo.
According to the register, Ismaili has declared over 20 bottles of wine received as year-end gifts this year alone. Insurance companies also gave him various presents, including bottles of wine, pens, and notebooks branded with the companies’ logos. The insurance company Illyria sent him such gifts for the end of the year, while Eurosig and Sigma provided similar items.
In addition, the insurance company Siguria gifted Ismaili a ceramic helmet, although the governor has not disclosed its value. Another insurance company, Sigal, presented him with a traditional Arbëreshë dress from Italy during a visit.
Ismaili also accepted silver coins valued between 10 and 30 euros from various institutions and counterparts. Insider has learned that in January, Ismaili received a gift from a car dealership, which he is expected to report in next year’s gift register.
The Agency for the Prevention of Corruption told Insider that it will finalize the annual catalog of gifts reported by public institutions for 2024 by the end of this month.
