And Just Like That Showrunner Sends Cast Member Gift After Tony Win

by Lily Brown

At the 78th annual Tony Awards red carpet, actress Bonnie Milligan, who guest stars on Max’s hit show And Just Like That… as Lela, Charlotte York’s (Kristin Davis) boss at a New York City art gallery, shared a special story with Parade about how creator Michael Patrick King celebrated her 2023 Tony win.

Milligan, 41, recalled, “The next day, Michael Patrick King sent me flowers with a note that said, ‘And just like that, you won the Tony. So thrilled.’ And then he signed it. It was pretty classy.”

Reflecting on her win for her role in the musical Kimberly Akimbo, Milligan said, “You really go out of your body. I was sitting next to my mom, who immediately started sobbing. Before the ceremony, I told her, ‘If it happens, they said I have 90 seconds. I gotta get up there quick.’ She asked, ‘Can I hug you?’ and I said, ‘Okay, but it’s gotta be quick!’”

Talking about working with the And Just Like That… cast, the Tony winner praised, “Oh my God, they’re the best. I’m obsessed. I love the writers. I really love everybody involved.” She added that in the current third season, she got to join several “all-skates” — scenes with the entire cast — and said, “I’m really here. You know what I mean?”

She continued, “I’ve shot it for a couple of seasons, but doing a scene where you see Cynthia [Nixon], Sarah Jessica [Parker], and Kristin, who I shoot with all the time, it’s really cool.”
