Annie Mae Belin of Darlington County, South Carolina, celebrated her 106th birthday on Sunday surrounded by family, friends, and members of her church. Despite her age, Belin remains active and mobile, occasionally using a cane. She expressed gratitude for her life, health, and strength.
Belin shared that she reads her Bible from beginning to end every year and chooses never to say mean things about anyone. She credits her faith in God as a key source of her well-being. “I feel good because I know God got me,” she said. “He’s my all in all. Anything I need, all I have to do is call him, and he’s going to give it to me.”
Belin first gained widespread attention in 2021 when a comment she made at her 102nd birthday party went viral. She said that “minding her own business” and having faith were important to her long life. The phrase resonated with many people, inspiring an apparel company to produce T-shirts featuring her quote.
During her 106th birthday celebration, Belin received numerous gifts, including balloons, cards, and flowers. Friends describe her as a loving and caring person. She continues to get her hair styled every two weeks by Gloria Hines, a former mayor of Darlington. Hines expressed admiration for Belin’s sharp memory and ability to care for herself at 106 years old.
