Meerut, June 2, 2025 — In a heartwarming celebration, Shamim Ahmed, a professor from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, threw an extravagant birthday party for his pet dog, Alex, who recently turned five. The event drew over 500 guests from across India and featured an array of special touches to honor the beloved pet.
Ahmed, director of the Translam Educational Institute in Meerut’s Ganganagar area, is known for his deep love for animals. He spared no effort to make Alex’s birthday memorable. The celebrations included an 11-kilogram cake, specially designed invitation cards featuring Alex’s photograph, and a lavish meal offering 30 different dishes.
Friends and animal lovers from ten states—including Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Rajasthan, Bihar, Kerala, and Madhya Pradesh—attended the party. Guests enjoyed music, dance, games, and a lucky draw, where the winner received a refrigerator as a prize. Exciting return gifts were also distributed to attendees.
Ahmed, who is unmarried and lives with his sister working abroad, rescued Alex during the COVID-19 pandemic when the dog was injured on the streets. Since then, Alex has lived with him and been the center of his care and affection.
To provide the best environment for Alex, Ahmed built a separate bungalow with a glass room and garden, complete with helpers and air conditioning. Special arrangements are also made to keep Alex comfortable during winters.
The event was not just a birthday party, but a celebration of the bond between a man and his loyal companion, reflecting Ahmed’s lifelong dedication to animal welfare.
