Princess Rajwa and Crown Prince Hussein of Jordan celebrated their second wedding anniversary on Sunday, marked by the Hashemite royal family with a series of never-before-seen photographs. The images, taken at the wedding of Hussein’s cousin, Princess Aisha bint Faisal, in May, show the couple smiling together on the grounds of Zahran Palace, where the ceremony was held.
Princess Rajwa, wearing a brown silk dress by Petar Petrov, was a guest of honour at Princess Aisha’s wedding. The event also included King Abdullah, his sisters Princesses Zain and Aisha, his brother Prince Ali bin Al Hussein, and his youngest son Prince Hashem.
The wedding evoked memories of Rajwa and Hussein’s own ceremony on June 1, 2023, also held at Zahran Palace. This venue has been a traditional location for Jordanian royal weddings since King Abdullah and Queen Rania married there in 1993. Following the ceremony, the couple processed through the streets to Al Husseiniya Palace, where they received guests before an evening banquet attended by 1,700 people.
Among the guests were British royals Prince William and Kate Middleton, who share a close relationship with the Jordanian crown couple. Princess Beatrice attended with Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi. Other international royals present included King Frederik and Queen Mary of Denmark, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands, and Princess Takamado of Japan, representing Emperor Naruhito. The guests were welcomed by King Abdullah II and Queen Rania, who wore a Dior gown.
Princess Rajwa wore a custom white gown by Lebanese designer Elie Saab, featuring an asymmetrical neckline and a sweeping floral-embroidered train. She also wore a sparkling tiara to hold her veil. She walked down the aisle accompanied by her new brother-in-law, Prince Hashem, while her sisters-in-law, Princess Iman and Princess Salma, followed closely, adjusting her veil.
Born to Khaled Al Saif and Azza Al Sudairi, Princess Rajwa’s mother belongs to the Al Sudairi family, which is connected to the Saudi royal family. Rajwa is a first cousin twice removed of Saudi King Salman. She was born and raised in Saudi Arabia before studying architecture at Syracuse University, graduating in 2017.
In August 2022, the Jordanian royal court announced the engagement of Crown Prince Hussein to Rajwa. The couple met through a mutual friend, not at university. Their engagement ceremony took place at Rajwa’s father’s home in Riyadh, and an official photograph was released to mark the occasion.
Since their wedding, Princess Rajwa and Crown Prince Hussein have maintained a relatively low public profile. They made a rare joint appearance in January during an official visit to Singapore, highlighted by the launch of the Jordan-Singapore Tech Alliance Forum. At the event, Prince Hussein delivered a speech outlining Jordan’s ambitions to become a significant player in the global technology sector.
After the birth of their child, Princess Rajwa gradually returned to public duties. Her first public appearance as a new mother was at a Jordan vs. Oman football match in October. In January, the couple enjoyed a double date with Prince Abdul Mateen and Princess Anisha Rosnah of Brunei. To mark Princess Rajwa’s 31st birthday on April 28, Crown Prince Hussein posted a heartfelt message on Instagram, expressing gratitude for the love and warmth she brings to their family.
