Bucharest, June 1, 2025 — As part of the National Year of the Child, the Colorăm Zâmbete Association and UNICEF Romania organized a flash mob on Sunday morning to mark International Children’s Day. About 500 children took part in the event called the “Children’s Senate,” performing a dance to the song “Va fi bine” by UNICEF National Ambassador Smiley. The song delivers an optimistic message about how change starts with each of us.
Anna Riatti, UNICEF’s representative in Romania, said the event aimed to highlight children and their voices. She emphasized the importance of children’s rights to express themselves freely, play, be heard, and enjoy an artistic life, as stated in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. Riatti thanked the Romanian Senate, the Colorăm Zâmbete Association, the children, and all supporters of the event.
The flash mob choreography was designed by professionals from Dance World Studio. Like previous years’ events, the children expressed joy and solidarity through dance, supported by local authorities.
Diana Păun, president of the Colorăm Zâmbete Association, expressed pride in the event’s growth. She said the participation of over 500 children proves that dance brings people together, inspires, and creates lasting memories. Păun added that the flash mob not only celebrates the National Year of the Child but also promotes the role of art in children’s development. She thanked everyone involved for their energy and enthusiasm.
In 2024, the Romanian Parliament passed a law declaring 2025 as the National Year of the Child. The law aims to raise awareness of children’s rights and encourage activities that support their social, educational, cultural, and civic growth.
