Joshua Sanchez, owner of Firmes Styles, is known for his bold approach to custom tuning, taking on projects beyond cars. When content creator Diana Salguero came to his shop with an unusual request to upgrade her dad’s grill for Father’s Day, Joshua and his team eagerly accepted the challenge. Their goal was to turn a simple barbecue grill into a unique grilling setup that matched her dad José’s passion for cooking over flames, with PEPSI® adding a bold flavor twist to the project.
The series “Tuned and Grilled,” presented by PEPSI®, blends custom car culture with backyard grilling. It shows how creativity and skill transform a basic grill into a show-stopping centerpiece for José’s carne asadas. In the first episode, Diana explains how much her dad loves his grill, calling it “his baby.” José’s grilling skills have earned him the nickname “Chef Fresh” among their social media followers.
Inspired by José’s dedication, Joshua planned several upgrades: a dual cooking system for better flavor control, a mini fridge stocked with cold Pepsi, a detachable tablet to watch games without leaving the grill, and blue flame graphics to reflect José’s favorite color.
Episode two reveals the transformation in progress. The team added a sound system with subwoofers so José can play his favorite corridos while grilling. They switched from gas to coal and included mesquite wood for extra smokiness. A spinning spice rack was also installed, keeping all seasonings within easy reach. The grill soon became a powerful fire-breathing machine, perfect for José’s cooking style. And of course, the ice-cold Pepsi was never far away, as the project’s slogan says, “Grilling Deserves Pepsi.”
Beyond functionality, the grill’s appearance received a full makeover with striking cholo lowrider-style graphics, the PEPSI® logo, and the “Chef Fresh” tag, making the grill a visual masterpiece.
The final episode captures José’s priceless reaction during the family’s Father’s Day cookout. As steaks sizzle on the upgraded grill, the family laughs, dances, and enjoys Pepsi together. Diana sums it up by saying the most memorable part of the day was simply having fun together.
