On the episode aired, the new SBS variety show *Queen of Discernment Kim Nam-joo* featured the actress sharing stories behind some of her most treasured possessions, including a luxury handbag and her wedding ring, both gifts from her husband, actor Kim Seung-woo.
Kim Nam-joo introduced a green silk bag from a luxury brand that holds special memories for her. She recalled spotting the bag in a magazine a few years ago and immediately liking its color. “I wanted it so much,” she said. While Kim Seung-woo was abroad, she asked him to check if the store had the bag and to buy it for her. “I think I was young and felt a desire for material things,” she admitted.
She also shared a humorous incident involving the bag. On her birthday, while handling a cake, her husband jokingly tried to smear some on her face but ended up getting cake on the bag instead. “I thought, ‘I’ve ruined that bag,’ and ‘I can’t carry it anymore,’” she said. Though the bag was cleaned well, Kim Nam-joo said she cherishes it so much that she rarely uses it and only takes it out on special occasions connected to her husband.
The actress also talked about her wedding ring, a 5-carat pear-shaped diamond gifted by Kim Seung-woo. This ring recently made headlines when it was reported that he bought a similar diamond ring as a wedding gift for Kim Jong-min. Trying on the ring again after a long time, Kim Nam-joo said, “Pear-shaped diamonds were very popular back then, and I really wanted one. I didn’t ask for sets or watches, just a big diamond.” She added that her husband told her to choose something nice.
Kim Nam-joo also shared the story behind her square diamond earrings. She bought them during a trip to Hong Kong in her twenties after thinking about them for some time. “I don’t wear them often anymore to keep them safe,” she said. “I only wear them on important days. I hope to pass them down to La-hee later.”
