John Fogerty celebrated his 80th birthday the way he loves best—on stage performing live. The Creedence Clearwater Revival legend marked his milestone on May 28 with a concert at New York’s Beacon Theatre, playing for a crowd of 3,000, according to Rolling Stone.
Joined by his band, which includes his sons Shane and Tyler, Fogerty performed many CCR classics like “Proud Mary,” “Up Around the Bend,” “Born on the Bayou,” and “Bad Moon Rising.” He also treated the audience to some of his solo hits, including “Centerfield” and “The Old Man Down the Road.”
“It’s been quite a journey to get to this big eight-oh,” Fogerty told the crowd. “Thank you for coming along on this journey with me. I appreciate each and every one of you, every little dip and turn in the road.”
During the show, Fogerty announced his upcoming album, *Legacy: The Creedence Clearwater Revival Years*. This album features re-recorded versions of some of CCR’s most famous songs, now labeled as “(John’s Version),” as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. The album is set to release on August 22.
Fans got an extra treat when Fogerty teased a second concert at the Beacon Theatre scheduled for May 29 on his Instagram.
The birthday wishes also poured in from fellow musicians and fans. An Instagram Reel on Fogerty’s official account showcased greetings from artists like Keith Urban, John Mellencamp, William Bell, Dexter Holland of The Offspring, country band Little Big Town, and many others.
