A Michigan couple received an unforgettable anniversary gift when they won \$2 million on a scratch-off ticket. The lucky win happened when the woman bought a \$20 Diamonds & Gold instant ticket at Opdyke Featherstone Mobil in Auburn Hills.
The couple scratched the ticket together on their wedding anniversary. The husband spotted the \$2 million prize first, but thought it might be a mistake. They brought the ticket back to the store to scan it. When a message told them to file a claim at the Lottery office, they asked a friend to scan the ticket with the Lottery app. The \$2 million prize showed up, leaving the couple shocked and thrilled.
They recently claimed their winnings at the Michigan Lottery headquarters. They chose a one-time lump sum payment of about \$1.3 million instead of annuity payments. The couple plans to use the money to invest, buy a home, and fund their children’s college education.
Lottery Commissioner Suzanna Shkreli congratulated the couple, saying their win will positively impact their family’s future.
The Diamonds & Gold game launched last March and has awarded over \$54 million in prizes so far. There is still over \$49 million in prizes left, including one \$2 million top prize.
