To celebrate Mother’s Day, students at the Lillian Gray Art School created handmade gifts to honor the special women in their lives. Young children and tweens at the school used their creativity and care to craft unique presents that showcased both artistic talent and heartfelt appreciation.
According to art teacher Jemma Coulson, the younger students worked with clay to make flower-shaped tealight holders. “With careful hands and imaginative minds, they sculpted delicate petals and shaped each base with intention,” she said. These handcrafted pieces served as both decorative items and personal expressions of love.
The older students took a different approach, transforming ordinary rocks into colorful miniature artworks. Using vibrant paints and detailed designs, they turned each stone into a unique piece. “These pocket-sized masterpieces reflected each artist’s style. The attention to detail made them truly stand out,” said Coulson.
From shaping petals in clay to painting the perfect pattern on stone, every student poured time and thought into their gift.
“It was inspiring to watch them put so much care into what they made,” Coulson added. “It’s proof that the most meaningful gifts are the ones created by hand.”
