Jamshedpur marked Bollywood star Madhuri Dixit’s 58th birthday with a unique celebration led by her devoted fan, Pappu Sardar. The two-day event combined festive rituals, a mass marriage, and charitable acts, bringing together the community in a spirit of compassion and joy.
On May 14, the celebrations began at Pappu Sardar’s famous chaat shop in Sakchi with a Shiv Charcha and devotional puja. The rituals were conducted by Pandit Santosh Kumar Tripathi, and women devotees Dolly and Rita led the spiritual gathering. The evening’s highlight was the mass wedding of three couples: Sulekha Pramanik and Khakan Madrina, Rekha Kumari and Naveen Day, and Sumita Tantubai and Nayan Tantubai.
After the ceremony, Pappu gifted the newlyweds essential household items. The day ended with a midnight cake-cutting ceremony to honor Madhuri Dixit’s birthday, where the couples joyfully cut the cake amidst cheers.
The following day, May 15, Pappu visited Cheshire Home in Karandih, a shelter for the differently-abled. There, he distributed food, gifts, and treats like ice cream, chocolates, and cake, spreading happiness among the residents and staff.
Thousands gathered at Pappu’s shop for free chaat, sweets, and snacks. The shop was decorated like a bride, and a selfie corner attracted many women and girls eager to capture the festive mood.
The event drew nearly 5,000 visitors. Many longtime attendees recalled attending the celebrations since 1996, showing strong support for Madhuri Dixit and the social causes linked to the event.
For 29 years, Pappu Sardar has celebrated Madhuri’s birthday with growing dedication. What began as a fan tribute has transformed into a meaningful occasion promoting charity, inclusion, and community spirit.
A visitor said, “This is not just a fan celebration—it is an expression of love and humanity. Pappu Bhaiya makes Madhuri’s birthday a joyful event for many, especially those in need.”
