A 36-year-old woman in Texas has been arrested after she allegedly married her ex-boyfriend without his knowledge or consent. Kristin Marie Spearman faces a third-degree felony stalking charge, according to the Beverly Hills Police Department.
The investigation began on June 13, 2025, when the 42-year-old ex-boyfriend contacted police with a surprising claim. He said that after being away from his home all day, he returned to find a package left on his property. The package, from Bath & Body Works, contained several products and two documents that shocked him.
One document was a photo of Spearman and the man holding what appeared to be a marriage license, signed by a local reverend. The other was a copy of an official marriage certificate filed with the county clerk’s office.
The man told police that he and Spearman had once applied for a marriage license together but had an argument afterward. He said he told Spearman he no longer wanted to continue the relationship.
Police later learned that Spearman convinced the reverend to perform a marriage ceremony without the man’s knowledge or presence. Spearman then filed the marriage certificate with the county clerk’s office.
After filing, Spearman reportedly put together a gift bag including the marriage documents and left it at her ex-boyfriend’s property with several notes.
The police are not releasing the reverend’s identity to avoid harassment as the investigation continues.
Beverly Hills Police Chief Kory Martin said this case is unlike anything he has seen in his 23 years of law enforcement. He added that the victim is now working to resolve the situation legally.
Spearman was taken into custody and held at McLennan County Jail but has since been released. Authorities continue to investigate the case.
