On Sunday, 25th May 2025, at around 5 pm, a man stole a valuable Pokémon gift box from a model store in Yau Ma Tei, Hong Kong. The incident took place at “Mertens,” located at In’s Point, 530 Nathan Road. The stolen gift box, featuring the Pokémon character “Lily Ai,” is worth over a thousand pounds.
The store owner told Hong Kong01 that they discovered the theft after reviewing CCTV footage. They also learned the suspect may have committed similar thefts at other stores. The owner plans to report the incident to the police on 27th May and will increase security measures to prevent future thefts.
The suspect is described as a man wearing a duckbill cap, black-framed glasses, a mask, a white T-shirt, and light-colored trousers. He was carrying a slanted bag and a shopping bag. The CCTV footage shows him browsing game card cabinets for about 10 minutes. At one point, he took pictures with his phone. When the store became less crowded, he reached up, took the gift box from the top of a cabinet, and quickly left the store.
The store also posted a warning on social media, urging the thief to return the stolen item before they involve the authorities.
