David Beckham has publicly expressed his gratitude to King Charles and Queen Camilla for a thoughtful birthday gift he received from the royal couple. The former football star recently turned 50 and marked the occasion with multiple celebrations, though his eldest son, Brooklyn, was noticeably absent from all three events.
The Beckham family’s milestone celebration comes during ongoing speculation of a family rift. Reports claim Brooklyn Beckham and his wife, Nicola Peltz, recently visited Prince Harry and Meghan Markle at their Montecito home, where the Duke and Duchess of Sussex offered support amid the family tension.
Despite past ties between the Beckhams and the Sussexes, the King and Queen appear to be showing their support for David. Beckham attended the Chelsea Flower Show on Monday, where he was spotted wearing a rose in his buttonhole. The flower turned out to have a royal significance.
During the event, King Charles, 76, greeted Beckham and asked whether he had received the royal birthday gift. “You got it, didn’t you?” the King asked. Beckham replied: “It was incredible, thank you. It was very kind.”
Queen Camilla also spoke with Beckham shortly after, saying, “Nice to see you again, glad you got the roses.” Beckham described his recent weekend as “perfect” but “busy,” adding that it was “a lot of fun.”
The flower Beckham wore is called the King’s Rose, a variety named in honor of King Charles, known for his long-standing love of gardening and horticulture.
