The Uttar Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has introduced a new gift for women marrying in mass wedding ceremonies across the state. This addition celebrates the success of Operation Sindoor. According to the Department of Social Welfare, Scheduled Caste, and Scheduled Tribe Welfare, newlywed brides will now receive a “sindoordani,” also known as a sindhora or indoor box, as part of their wedding gifts.
Asim Arun, the state’s Minister of Social Welfare, said the Uttar Pradesh Samuhik Vivah Yojna now includes 24 gift items for couples, with the sindoordani being a significant new addition.
This decision follows a recent meeting of Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers from National Democratic Alliance (NDA) states. During the meeting, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged leaders to spread awareness about Operation Sindoor.
Operation Sindoor refers to the Indian armed forces’ precise strikes on terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) on the night of May 6-7. The attack targeted nine terror camps, killing hundreds of terrorists while minimizing civilian harm.
Unlike Pakistan, which launched missiles and drones at civilian areas, holy sites, and military locations in India, Indian forces focused strictly on terror camps. India’s air-defense systems successfully intercepted all Pakistani attacks.
The Uttar Pradesh government’s new gift initiative aims to honor the operation’s success while supporting brides in mass weddings across the state.
